MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY CENTRE
RECRUITMENT OF A TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ?IMAGE PROCESSING AND MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY?

LABORATORY: Centre of Mathematical Morphology, Department Mathematics and Systems, Mines ParisTech.

LOCATION: Fontainebleau (60 km south-east of Paris), France

DESCRIPTION OF THE VACANCY

The Centre of Mathematical Morphology (CMM) at Mines ParisTech invites applications for faculty positions in mathematical image processing and computer vision. We are seeking candidates for tenure-track assistant professor positions.

Successful candidates will develop an independent and creative research program, participate in both undergraduate and graduate teaching, and supervise PhD students.

Candidates from all areas of computer science related to image processing will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with interests in mathematical morphology, applied mathematics for solving image and vision problems, applied physics for modelling image structures, optimized algorithms for image manipulation, machine learning in computer vision.

Mathematical Morphology Centre

The vacancy to be filled is at the Mathematical Morphology Centre (http://cmm.ensmp.fr/), which has a staff of 10 permanent scientists and 15 Ph.D. students and post-docs.

The CMM was created in 1968 by G. Matheron and J. Serra, with the aim of developing the foundations of mathematical morphology. The fields of application focus on biological and medical imaging, quantitative microscopy, physics of heterogeneous media, inspection of defects, scene analysis and understanding, multimedia applications.

If such a work environment, focused on applied mathematics for image processing and multidisciplinary by its applications strikes you as promising, if you are ready to work in direct contact with the industrial world and its demands in regard to academic research, please send us an original research project in relation with our field of activity.

The vacancy is for a researcher holding a PhD degree, with a skill in computer programming and showing an aptitude for teamwork. The applicant will have to display his/her capacity to conduct research work in a multidisciplinary context.

Post-doctoral experience in a foreign laboratory would be an asset for this position. A sound command of spoken and written English is an absolute requirement.
