Life Length, the world leader in telomere measurement and testing, is seeking to recruit a Cell Culture Specialist for its facilities in the Cantoblanco Campus in Madrid. The successful candidate will join the only company able to offer a highly scalable technology to measure the individual telomeres by cell and which has vast applications for drug development and clinical trials in the pharma and biotech industries as well as for physicians working in personalized and preventive medicine.

Job Summary: The position of Cell Culture Specialist is almost entirely laboratory-based and the successful candidate is expected to work independently and as part of a team of scientific and technical staff. The successful applicant is expected to be familiar with cell culture techniques, media preparation, cell characterization related to telomere biology, and molecular biology methods. The Cell Culture Specialist should be able to maintain mammalian and/or primary cell lines to be used in preclinical (In Vivo and In Vitro) experiments. The ideal candidate would also be familiar with fluorescent microscopy. The role includes conducting and supporting routine testing and experiments, as well as collecting and managing samples, writing reports and working alongside other scientific staff. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Performing laboratory tests under strict quality controls (ISO15189 and CLIA) in order to produce reliable and precise data to support telomere services testing including TAT, Q-TRAP, qPCR and TRF.
Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
Preparing specimens and samples.
Recording and analyzing data.
Oversee growth and maintenance of cell lines and recording all work related to tissue culture assays.
Help with optimization of cell culture procedures related to control and test cell samples.
Presenting results to senior staff.
Prepare media and chemical solutions.
Coordinating with other laboratory staff to plan activities and ensure smooth daily operations of sample testing, maintaining strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Providing help with laboratory inventory of equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.
Handling and disposal of potentially hazardous substances. Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
Attending all R&D meetings.
A minimum of two years of experience working in an academic or industry setting performing cell related laboratory duties.
High level of written and spoken English.
Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience providing a strong understanding of the field of telomere biology; Ph.D would be a plus but is not required.
Experience with cell culture and aseptic technique.
Self-starter, team player and problem solver. Willing to learn new technologies.

Salary Range: €23,000 - €27,000 according to experience.
Fixed contract – Includes 3 months' probation.
