We offer

The Structural Biology group, at the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragón (INA), is seeking for a Postdoctoral researcher to apply for an Individual Fellowship (IF) within Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) of the European Union. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of researchers. The position is expected to start during the first half of 2017 and will have duration of 2 years.

The applicant will be integrated into the research line on Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) for the study of biomolecules and the nanostructuration of nanomaterials. This line is developed in the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory, recently recognized as ICTS for the Government of Spain (http://lma.unizar.es/icts/). This facility belongs to INA at the University of Zaragoza, and provides with an extraordinary range of cutting-edge microscopy and spectroscopy tools that support in depth research and drive scientific breakthroughs.

This research line is dedicated to two research topics supported by successive funded projects in both cases. Topic 1 uses AFM to the analysis of enzymatic mechanisms, molecular recognition pathways and intermolecular forces that govern proteins. Topic 2 uses dip-pen nanolithography based on AFM for the nanostructuration of nanomagnets, metallic nanoparticles and proteins on devices to do physical studies, fabricate molecular devices for ICT technologies, and develop new ultrasensitive sensors.

Candidate profile:
Topic 1
•PhD in Biochemistry or related fields.
•Experience in protein manipulation, labeling and functionalization.
•Experience using AFM imaging, dynamic force spectroscopy, nanomechanical imaging modes, molecular recognition imaging.
•Experience with scanning tunneling microscopy will be also valuable.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Spanish will be considered useful but not compulsory.

Topic 2
•PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related fields.
•Experience with AFM imaging, local oxidation nanolithography and dip-pen nanolithography.
•Experience with nanomagnets or nanoparticles.
•Experience with magnetic force microscopy will be also valuable.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Spanish will be considered useful but not compulsory.

Candidate mandatory requirements to apply to MSCA-IF:
The deadline to apply to the MSCA IF 2016 call is 14th September 2016. At that date, the applicant should fulfill the following requirements:
•Shall be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience.
•Must not have resided or carried out their main activities in the country of Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the abovementioned deadline.

Information on how to apply for application to Marie Curie Individual Fellowship can be found at European Commission Participant Portal.
