The Communication Networks Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher position in its Optical Networks and Systems Department. For more information about the Department please refer to http://networks.cttc.es/ons/.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering or related disciplines, and should have proven work experience in the area of optical transmission and systems. The candidate is expected to have a solid background in fiber optic communications and on the principles and fundamentals of the main optical components and photonic devices for telecommunications. Specifically, candidates are asked to have a good publications record showing proven experience in digital signal processing for optical communications with particular focus on multicarrier modulation techniques, both OFDM and DMT (based on either the fast Fourier transform or alternatives, such as the fast Hartley transform), and sliceable bandwidth variable transceivers. The researcher will work in close cooperation with the team of the Optical Networks and Systems Department and will be involved in the design, development, integration and experimental assessment of transmission and sub
system solutions. The applicant is expected to carry out innovative research, publication of results in high impact scientific journals related to the field, R&D project reporting, and competitive R&D project proposal preparation for different national and international calls.

Información complementaria de la oferta:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants for Researcher positions must hold a Ph.D. degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields; be capable of conduct independent research and be highly motivated to work in a collaborative environment; have track record and capacity of interacting with researchers. Work experience in international and national R&D projects is highly appreciated.
Expertise in cost-effective optical transceiver solutions for software defined optical transmission systems and low-complexity processing techniques targeting metro networks, as well as adaptive bit/power loading methods is required.
Another important requirement is the ability/proficiency in developing DSP modules/tools using both Matlab and Python languages. Applicants should have advanced knowledge in signal processing for optical communication systems and lab experience, with particular emphasis on the use of high speed digital to analog converters as well as common optical measurement methods.

CONDITIONS
The position is permanent. The salary will be determined according to qualifications, work experience and budget availability. Researchers interested in joining the Communication Networks Division should send their curriculum vitae, including list of publications, and the names and addresses of at least two referees. These documents should be sent in PDF format through this link http://www.cttc.es/career/researcher-position-in-communication-networks-division-optical-networks-and-systems-department/ . CVs and any other information gathered during this process will be handled confidentially.
