The Communication Networks Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a research position in its Mobile Networks Department.
Interest is in the areas of cellular technologies (and specifically, LTE), IEEE 802.11ac, mmWave, cognitive radio and networks, radio resource and interference management and optimization, and the application of SDN and NFV architectural principles in such networks. We are looking for a researcher interested in and capable of designing and developing network simulation and experimental platforms for 5G networks. Therefore, the ideal researcher should demonstrate background in as many as possible areas out of the following list: cellular mobile communication systems (LTE/LTE-A), WiFi networks, experience in network optimization, implementation of system level simulators real-time emulators, and experimental prototyping.
Other highly-valued merits: 1) Experience with 3GPP standardization process and documents; participation/contribution in 3GPP meetings is highly appreciated; 2) Participation in public-funded research projects, but most importantly, in industrial research projects; 3) Contribution in patent applications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Interested researchers must be strongly motivated, hold a Ph.D. degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer science, or related area, and have the capacity of carrying out collaborative innovative research.
The contract duration for the potential position would be 24 months, renewable on a yearly basis subject to performance and budgetary constraints. The salary would be defined according to previous experience and skills of the interested researcher.
